James applies his considerable commercial experience, gained from working in the mobile telecommunications and electronics industries, to his work as an IP strategist.
He has a deep understanding of the financial and legal considerations of patent holding companies, and a deep technical knowledge of audio and video codecs, user interface, cellular protocols, and RF interfaces, printer, machine vision, and LED technologies.
James has a first class degree in Physics from Bristol University, winning the Raychem prize for his final year project on photon scanning tunnelling microscopy.
A qualified UK and European Patent Attorney, James spent 18 years as in-house IP counsel for Nokia and Hewlett-Packard before he came to EIP, practising before the US Patent and Trademark Office, and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.
